Don't get me wrong. I'm not Anti-Obama in any way or belittling his efforts. I just think that, given his short time in office (particularly the short time before the nomination must have been made) there would have been other more worthy candidates who have done more over a longer period. Maybe if he'd won this next year I'd be tinking "Yeah, ok. Fair dues." but this just seems like it's a bit too soon.

Then again, thinking about who else might be more deserving, I'd struggle. Can anyone think of a more deserving candidate?

If he was nominated for the prize

after only 11 days in office the nominator must have felt that he was gong to do something good for peace and threw his name in, as so mny others are thrown in. If he had not folowed through, the committee would not have acted upon his nomination. That they did act is a reflection of his accomplishments.

Obama has done nothing to deserve this award, has he? if he has? please explain. now he wants to incorporate the Taliban into the new Afghanistan government? ok. On domestic issues I certainly prefer Nixon to the direction the Republican Party took in 1980. Nevertheless, I cannot forgive him for needlessly prolonging the War in Vietnam. In addition, in 1954 he advocated the use of American troops to help the French.

When Nixon was trying to win the War in Vietnam he should have been negotiating safe treatment for the minority of South Vietnamese who supported the United States, and who later became boat people. The abandonment of them by the United States was the final disgrace in a disgraceful war. We did not even try to protect them from the Thai pirates.

I am not hating America, I am just confused as to what Obama did in his first eleven days to be nominated for his Nobel Peace Prize. As I have stated, the deadline to submit nominations was February 1, 2009.

Trumpet makes the exact statement I made, yet you do not mention him in your remarks, I find it interesting why that is. Sadly we may not know who the nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize were for another 50 years. But I am still trying to figure out what it is that he did in 11 days, that made him a validated nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.

 

Where could they move to? American liberals will always feel at home in the British Commonwealth or Western Europe. American reactionaries have no where else to go. If they want to pay lower taxes they will have to move to a third world country. There they will find dirt roads, dangerous drinking water, and law enforcement officials who take bribes because their salaries are so low.

 

Only you would misconstrue the basic idea of questioning a decision, versus someone hating America. When it is part of my basic right to say what I wish, I believe it is under the 1st Amendment, the Freedom of Speech. How is it wrong to ask myself what he could have possibly done in 11 days to have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize? It should be the first question that pops in your questions, once you read the article, where it states the same thing I have said, about it only being 11 days in office when he was nominated.

The person who really deserved the prize was Greg Mortenson whose group was responsible for building more than 130 schools in Aisa where he could have lost his life. Obozo got it for making promises he couldn't keep. The Nobel Peace Prize has just become a joke to anyone who ever thought it represented the best humankind has to offer, this shames the country and the council who electem for the prize. I think NO politician should every receive this prize. I have never seen a politician that wasn't trying to accomplish anything besides attaining money and power.
